The Rio Grande Gorge, the area’s most famous natural landmark, is virtually invisible ... until you reach its edge. Walk across the Rio Grande on the country’s second-highest suspension bridge as you gaze into an abyss—framed by dark walls of volcanic rock—all the way down to the muddy band of the river 650 feet below. You can hike trails along the west rim.
