Being the best restaurant in a Ritz-Carlton is like being the only boy at an all-girls high school dance. It doesn’t matter
if you’re dull; chances are you’ll attract some attention. At Navio, the renovated seafood restaurant at cliff-hugging The
Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay, chef Sean Eastwood raises expectations with simple dishes like Prince Edward Island mussels punched
up with shallots, garlic, Sauvignon Blanc, and crème fraîche, and Monterey octopus, sliced into tender nobs and served on
a bed of watercress, fennel, and olives. The dining room’s nautical design gives it a relaxed feel, but the wide, coastal
views, frothy with fall breakers, will make you sit up and take notice.
