Take a beginner-friendly guided tour of either Elkhorn Slough or of Monterey Bay itself. You can rent sit-atop or closed-deck kayaks as well as paddle boards. Lessons are available, too. This is a surprisingly kid-friendly activity, with children as young as three welcome on the guided excursions.
