The menu at North Portland’s Mextiza reads like a mini culinary tour of Mexico. Standouts include the lechón Yucateco (Yucatán-style
rotisserie roast pork) and, from the chef’s native Guerrero, picaditas con rajas (fried tortillas stuffed with cheese and
veggies). Also try the super-seasonal fare, like plump empanadas stuffed with wild mushrooms. There’s a finely honed cocktail
list—we like the Morena, with mezcal, mole spices, and chocolate bitters—and a wall of top-notch tequilas to wash it all down.
