Fish Public

San Diego, California

Restaurateur Tracy Borkum's latest venture is a reworking of her original San Diego hot spot, Kensington Grill, in a 1918 building in quaint Kensington. The Fish Public is already filling a big gap in the San Diego dining scene--sustainable seafood, at affordable prices, in an inviting atmosphere. The space is modeled after a Nantucket beach cottage, with original sculptures fashioned out of old fishing boats and light fixtures made of antique nets. The menu is equally artful. Chef Jordan Davis sharpened his skills in some of the most innovative restaurant kitchens in the country, including Boulevard in San Francisco, and it shows; his charred, Spanish-style octopus with artichokes and arugula has already become a house favorite.
