Once a stand-alone attraction, the Eric Johnson Memorial Gardens are now part of the Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert. The oasis has curving paths that take you past gurgling waterfalls, palm trees, cactus-covered sand dunes, and a shaded rock-wall canyon—you will have no idea that you’re in the retail heart of the city. Be on the lookout for hummingbirds and butterflies. (Note that the attraction is also known locally as the Faye Sarkowsky Sculpture Garden.)
