Breakfast is sweet at Compote, the bright Southeast Portland cafe and bakery where even the candy-colored light fixtures look good enough to eat. The sunny courtyard is the perfect place to nosh your way around the brunchy menu, whose stars are the fresh seasonal compotes, like spiced apricot-plum and summer berry, which shine on everything from pancakes and housemade granola to biscuits and cream. Like it savory? We love the poached egg stacks with greens and grilled polenta.
