A semi-industrial waterfront zone of cargo terminals and extended-stay motor inns is home to the hard-to-find-but-worth-it
Brotzeit Lokal. (Look for a sandwich board in the driveway of the Homewood Suites.) You can sit indoors if you must, but the
real action is out on the fenced-off patch of asphalt overlooking the marina: families, multiethnic hipsters, and visiting
Euros happily sharing eight narrow orange biergarten tables, umbrellas for the sun, heat lamps for the chill, and a festive
string of white lights for the dark. Beers on tap include such German standbys as the Veltins Pilsner and a house beer made
by local cult brewery Linden Street.
