Located at the end of one of downtown’s quietest streets, the Alpine House has 22 guest rooms but each of the five creekside cottages has its own gas-burning stove or fireplace, full kitchen, tiled soaking tub, and cozy couches. If you need advice on local hiking or cross-country trails, you’re in good hands; the owners, Hans and Nancy Johnstone, are both former Olympic skiers.
