After a few false starts, downtown Honolulu’s Chinatown galleryscene is now a don’t-miss. The main reason? First Friday Honoluluevening gallery walks, which give locals and visitors a compellingreason to wander the streets in search of art, entertainment, andtop-notch dining.
On the first Friday of each month thousands converge on theonce-notorious red-light district for the collaborative open house.The event’s surprise success has made it a catalyst for changingthe fortunes of not just the gallery scene but the downtown scenein general.
