Hubs roll out the perks

Modern airports are working hard to make passengers’ time as pleasant as possible. Here are a few stopovers you might actually look forward to.

Oakland International Airport is one of several airports with a Park & Call Zone, where friends waiting to pick up passengers can park, free of charge, for up to 30 minutes. Cars can’t be left unattended, so don’t forget your cell phone. www.oaklandairport.com

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has installed the Bone Yard, where passengers traveling with dogs can let them out to stretch their legs and drink from a doggie fountain. Our favorite part: The main dog run surrounds a pet potty area shaped like a bone. www.phxskyharbor.com

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport stipulates that all vendors use street pricing. Say goodbye to the $5 cuppa joe. www.portseattle.org/seatac

Vancouver (B.C.) International Airport offers napping on the fly with MetroNaps chairs. Pull a blanket over your legs and a shaded visor over your upper body, then drift off to noise-canceling sounds. $15 for 20 minutes. www.yvr.ca
