The covered porch called the “Dog Trot” connects the front section to the rear bedroom wing. The sloping front roof, which continues on beams that span between the sections, meets the rear roof to create the butterfly wing profile. The longest roof panels, which measure more than 22 feet in length, can span from side wall to side wall of the bedroom wing. Note how the house rests on a foundation made of concrete footings and long I-beams.
