The long side wall of the living room wing is made of SIPs that sequentially have been glued and nailed together and attached to the floor foundation and framing. Long 2-by-4 bracing holds the panels vertical until the end wall section is assembled.
Walls constructed from SIPs essentially create shear walls that help resist side-to-side movement from earthquakes. The panels not only are glued at vertical joints; they also lock together at top and bottom with continuous plates.
