The garden of the Warm and Colorful House preserves a mature live oak, using it as the centerpiece for the rest of the yard, which includes a water feature off the outdoor breakfast area (right), a picnic area, a play platform, a vegetable garden, and a composting center. The garden is segmented into terraces cut into the sloping hillside. The rear terrace leads up a flight of stairs to the barbecue area, which in turn leads to the children's play area and vegetable garden.
