VP, Marketing Director | Top

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee all marketing personnel and programs (research, marketing programs and events, trade mailings, creative services) related to the Sunset brand

• Develop marketing strategies that directly impact the national sales team’s ability to leverage additional advertising through print and digital marketing campaigns, custom media solutions and consumer and trade events

• Create partnerships and promotions that provide exposure for the Sunset brand.

• P&L responsibility for developing and adhering to the marketing budget.

• Work closely with edit, circulation and custom publishing to make sure that all of our departments are benefiting from the resources that can be shared.

• Represent the marketing perspective in meetings with department heads regarding marketing issues

QUALIFICATIONS

Related BA/BS degree and 10+ years work experience

• Marketing activities related to magazine publishing, including product marketing management, promotion, advertising, and media research and sales

• Strong presenter--able to articulate and represent our brand both internally and externally

• Must be a strategic and creative "thinker" as well as a "doer"

• Direct experience with both traditional and new/emerging media

• Knowledge of budgeting processes

• Outstanding written and oral communication skills

• Outstanding organization and time management skills

• Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and email software

VP, Finance and Business Development | Top

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial

• Oversee budgeting process across business.  Work with department heads from inception of budget process to develop realistic budgets; work with Corporate financial staff, executive and senior management to develop overall acceptable level of company profitability

• Present and deliver final budget package to Corporate management and lead budget review meetings

• Oversee salary budgeting and planning process, including bonus calculations

• Oversee monthly close process and provide executive and senior management with feedback on key changes in business on a timely basis

• Direct and lead Corporate accounting to ensure all Sunset Publishing financial requirements are met

• Review internal reports and monthly narrative for Corporate business highlights report

• Prepare and report key budget analyses to management throughout the year

• Oversee and direct Sunset Publishing expenditures and implement ideas/actions to control spending

• Recruit, hire and manage department staff and guide employee development

Act as key financial liaison to outside vendors

Business Development

• Work closely with the President to implement the business development strategy, business plan, targets and tactics to grow Sunset business

• Prospect, develop relationships, establish business and generate ongoing opportunities with new clients

• Prepare presentations, financial projections and strategic analysis including cost/benefits analysis, developing financial models and implementation of processes and operational infrastucture

QUALIFICATIONS

A clear understanding of what our brand stands for and a shared passion for the same beliefs

• BS degree in Finance or relevant field and 7+ years Finance work experience 

• Familiarity of all of the key functional areas of magazine publishing

• Expert understanding of accounting principles

• Well honed professional skills as a financial analyst

• Ability to present financial data in a way that supports the information presented

• Ability to clearly explain financial concepts so that non-finance personnel can competently prepare budget and estimate data

• Extremely detail oriented and well organized

• Work under deadline pressure and frequent time constraints

• Strong interpersonal skills to interface with entire corporate staff

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Proficient use of  Microsoft Excel, Word, and PeopleSoft (or similar database software program)

Finance Manager | Top

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for the monthly Accounting Close and balance sheet reconciliation

• Generate timely and accurate financial statements

• Provide variance analysis (actual versus budget analysis, product analysis, and ad hoc analysis)

• Maintain adequate and compliant business control at site (SOX requirements and corporate accounting policy)

• Actively work with department heads and corporate accounting to resolve financial and accounting issues

• Oversee day-to-day financial operations including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes

QUALIFICATIONS

READER PANEL

• Survey programming

• Creating survey tabulation tables

• Manage/distribute survey incentives

AD SALES SUPPORT MATERIAL

• Conduct computer runs using syndicated research studies

• Database management duties include obtaining data from research vendors and updating department computer databases
