There has been lots of progress this week in our Reimagined Home. Drywall is going up! Now you can really get a sense of the fireplace structure, a handsome division between the living room and kitchen.

Once we’re finished with drywall, we can start painting. We’re showcasing Benjamin Moore’s new Color Stories collection, combining warm neutrals with some surprising pops of color.

We’ve started painting in the kitchen, Benjamin Moore’s Hidden Sapphire provides a dramatic backdrop.

Designer Brian Paquette chose a hot color—Benjamin Moore’s Peruvian Chili to complement the deep blue of the kitchen’s back wall.

Creating architecture

Creating architecture

We are framing the spaces with box beams, a signature element of Cliff May, the architect of Sunset’s headquarters and best known for creating the California ranch style home. Patrick from Coldstream Construction is painting the beams a deep chocolate brown.

We took our inspiration for the architectural beams from Cliff May’s personal home, built in 1956 in Los Angeles.
