Reimagining the Sunset Home: Week One
Watch us build Celebration Weekend 2013's feature exhibit from a blank slate to a home worthy of a spread in Sunset Magazine!
It starts with a blank slate
We’re transforming this 4,000-square-foot office space into the "Reimagining the Sunset Home" exhibit. Spaces will include living/dining, kitchen, home office, unplugged den, master bedroom suite, and an outdoor living room.
In early spring, we brought in our Reimagining the Sunset Home designers for a one-day brainstorm at Sunset. It was the first time they saw the space. They were given one month to come back to us with designs inspired by vintage spaces from the pages of Sunset.
Warming up the space with hardwood
First task: rip out the carpeting and replace with Armstrong’s new American Scrape hardwood, an engineered hickory floor that is scratch and stain resistant. Armstrong is donating a portion of the sales from the American Scrape Collection to Homes for Our Troops, a national non-profit organization that builds specially adapted homes for severely injured veterans.
A big trend in recent years is related to texturing—in floors, in furniture and in textiles. The three dimensional, undulating surface of sculpted hardwood can completely transform a room, each board in the American Scrape™ collection from Armstrong Floors—featured in the Reimagining the Sunset Home exhibit—has been individually sculpted to create the look of a time-worn floor. The natural knots and graining add to its unrefined appearance. Each floor is made in the USA. Armstrong.com
