Wine List Secrets from the Sommeliers

Some of the Bay Area’s top Wine Directors explain how they choose their wine selections, how they pair wines with dishes on their menus, and what questions to ask to get the best bottle for your dinner every time. Sunbrella Wine + Design
1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Take advantage of being in wine country by joining Sunbrella’s Stephanie Cizinsky and interior designer Lynn Leonidas in a wine and design seminar. Stephanie and Lynn will curate the perfect palette paired with wine based on trend colors and tasting notes. Come to this innovative and interactive discussion and gain new insight to design and how to incorporate into your own home all while enjoying delicious wines from St. Francis Winery, poured by winemaker Katie Madigan. Zinfandel might hail from Croatia, but it’s California’s wine now. No region in the world makes Zin as well as it’s done in this state. Learn about its history in our ancient vineyards, dating back to the 1800s, and taste Zinfandels from top producers that tap that history and point to a vibrant future as well for this delicious red wine.

Western Spirit: Exploring Locally Influenced Whiskies
1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Join Sonoma’s husband and wife craft distillers, Fred and Amy Groth of Prohibition Spirits, on an exploration of local whiskies. They will guide enthusiasts through a flight of seven single-grain whiskies and explain how the grains, barreling, and aging influence flavor profiles and palate feel. The whiskies will be accompanied by small pairings that will highlight sensory components in the spirits. Beyond food pairings, Fred and Amy will discuss classic cocktails as well as the practical use and history of whiskey. You will leave with a better understanding of what types of whiskey you fancy, and how best to enjoy them.
