This season's new adventure-friendly fashion can take you from base camp to grocery store and everywhere in between.

It can be tough prepping for an adventure in the great outdoors, especially if you’re a city dweller who’s somewhat averse to the highly technical look of a lot of gear. If you’re after a slightly more versatile, aesthetic look than GORE-TEX, but still want your clothing to be functional outside, then you’ve come to the right place. We’ve gathered this summer’s new adventure-friendly fashion that will take you from basecamp to the grocery store and everywhere in between.

Wyeth Frankie Hat
As a proud owner of a full-blown hat wall that I’ve adorned with finds from across the globe, it’s safe to say I’m a bit of a connoisseur, and this SoCal milliner makes some of my favorite affordable options around. Their felt wide brims are great for the fall and winter months, and this season’s new Frankie paper straw hat features a genuine leather tie band and stampede strap, making this hat perfect for a windy day at the beach or a sunny hike.

Teva Midform Universal Leather Sandal
Teva’s have come a long way since being created in 1984 by a river guide who was seeking a sandal that could have the potential to float downstream. Once viewed as a clunky (but highly functional) adventure shoe, the brand is now making fashion-forward, festival ready options that boast on-trend colorways. The Midform Universal Leather has a just-right 1 ¼-inch height, giving a very functional, earth-toned approach to the platform trend.

Halle E-Waist Short II
Let’s be honest, technical adventure shorts can be less than flattering, especially when it comes to women’s options. But the new Halle E-Waist Short II can take you from the beach to errands to base camp looking fresh. Made with ReZion, an Earth-friendly and versatile performance fabric, this ultra movable short is built to hang anywhere you can. It’s also got lots of pockets, plenty of stretch, sun protection, and an easy pull-on styling, too, perfect for camping.

Fjällräven Abisko Hike Foldsack
The new Abisko Hike Foldsack, made from 100% recycled nylon, is perfect for day hikes and traveling. It’s got all the functionality needed for everyday outdoor life, but the catching terracotta color has a street-friendly style that makes for a great commuter pack. (Bonus: There’s an inner elastic pouch that perfectly fits a MacBook Pro.) The fold-over closure is easy to use and can provide 4-5 liters of extra pack space or secure a sleeping mat or beach towels.

Left on Friday Weekender Suit
It’s hard to find a women’s suit with both form and function, but the Weekender fits the bill. The low plunge neckline has supportive crossback straps that allow you to move freely, but still look ready for the ‘gram. Don’t believe me? Ask Team Canada’s beach volleyballers. The smoothing, stay-put suits are good enough for their elite athletes, too.

Birkenstock Arizona Big Buckle Sandals
We love the new cognac colorway that Birkenstock introduced this season on their Madrid sandals, as well as the classic Arizonas. The gold buckles add a bit of polish to a classic, allowing this iconic shoe to seamlessly transition from a camping or road trip slide to chic resort wear.

Everlane’s high rise jeans are by far the most comfortable workwear pants out there. We’ve taken these everywhere from hiking to long days on set and everywhere in between. The inseam just won’t bust, no matter how much wear you put into them. These new organic wide leg pants are equally as stylish. Plus they look extra chic with some cute sandals and a jean jacket.

Outerknown Women’s Blanket Shirt
The brainchild of SoCal surf icon Kelly Slater, this sustainable clothing brand makes stylish, durable, options that will take you from the sea and sand to rooftop cocktails looking chic. 90% of the sourced fibers are either regenerated, recycled, or organic, and most importantly they feel great on. Their denim jacket is great to throw over joggers by the campfire, and the blanket shirt is a well-tailored shacket that works equally as well in the city or out in the wild.

Danner Mountain 600 Boot
Oregon-based Danner has been building the toughest boots on the market for over 90 years. Their Mountain 600s have been the go-to boot for many travelers (myself included) for good reason; they’re ultra-comfortable, long-lasting, and the shape aids in a great stride. Danner recently announced the arrival of the Mountain 600 Leaf GTX, a recraftable hiker made with recycled components and designed to be reworked through their recrafting program, giving your boots and the planet a second chance.
