How to Make Spooky Sangria

Watch how to concoct the ultimate Halloween party libation

Sunset

A dutch oven transforms into a spooky cauldron for this smoking sangria, perfect for a Halloween party drink. To make your own witches’ brew, thinly slice apples and oranges and put them in a large pitcher or jar. Add red wine, brandy, triple sec or Cointreau, and pomegranate juice. Stir and sweeten with simple syrup and a touch of pomegranate molasses for a dark, blood-red hue. Put it in the fridge overnight to let the flavors meld. Before serving, bring your red sangria to room temperature and dilute to taste with 2-4 cups of sparkling water–it’s wickedly strong undiluted. Pour your potion over dry ice wrapped in cheesecloth to make your caldron ooze smoke and delight the visiting ghouls.
