Use these palms in lawns or as street trees.

Australian fan palm (Livistona australis). Dark green, 3- to 5-ft.-wide leaves. Best with regular watering. Grows slowly to 50 ft. Hardy to 20°. Zones 13-17, 19-24, H1, H2.

King palm (Archontophoenix cunninghamiana). Slender trunk with a green crownshaft. Has 8- to 10-ft.-long leaves and showy lilac-colored flowers. Looks best when protected from wind. Older specimens difficult to transplant. Grows quickly to 50-60 ft. Hardy to 28°. Zones 21-24.
