If strolling through acres and acres of flowers is your idea of heaven (mine too!), we’ve got just the event for you this weekend.  Swan Island Dahlias in Canby, Oregon is opening their doors—er, farm gates—to visitors for their annual festival.

Arrive early in the morning when the blossoms first open and take your time walking among over 40 acres of blooms. With a stunning diversity in flower forms and a rainbow of colors, drinking in your fill of the blossoms could easily take the whole morning. Stay for an afternoon of live music, floral arranging demos, and presentations on how to grow dahlias at home. Festival runs Aug 29-31 and Sept 5-7. Admission is free.

Can’t make it to the event?  The fields are also open to the public August 1 through the end of September, 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pack a picnic and eat lunch at one of the farm’s picnic tables. Don’t forget to pick up a bouquet at the farm stand to take home.
