What a cool idea: Growing oyster mushrooms in coffee grounds, and Peet’s Coffee grounds at that. Team Mushroom just got in a mushroom-growing kit from Back to the Roots, a Bay Area company started last year by two Berkeley grads. They’re innoculating used coffee grounds with mycelium and packing it up in these little boxes.

Having tried mushroom kits before, we’re especially excited at how easy this one looks to use. You open it up on the front side, mist it twice a day for 10 days, then harvest. For a second crop, just turn the box around and repeat.
