Reuben Quesadillas

Although a Reuben is the quintessence of deli sandwiches, its filling is equally at home in a toasty flour tortilla. Sunset food writer Andrew Baker, who often resorts to quesadillas for a quick supper, contributed his Reuben to the Sunset 30 Minutes or Less Cookbook ($29.95 hardbound, $19.95 paperback), available this month.

The book’s focus is fast main dishes (soups, salads, meat, poultry, seafood, pasta, and vegetarian). But the final chapter in this 240-page, 237-recipe volume is devoted to desserts, and they’re fast, too. To order, call (800) 526-5111.

Also published this month are two additions to the Sunset Books Casual Cuisines of the World series. Country Inn, by George Mahaffey, presents recipes with hospitable histories.

Pizzeria, by Evan Kleiman, has Italian roots with contemporary overtones. Both handsomely photographed books have 128 pages and cost $19.95. You’ll find them in bookstores, too.
